Chiddingstone Castle: The All Year, All Weather Wedding Venue
What a great day! Richard and Ruth’s wedding was perfect in every way! I had visited Chiddingstone a few times prior to the big day for family picnics but had never shot a wedding there. The service was held at Pembury Old Church and then we drove in convoy to Chiddingstone. Weather held out for us which was great as first thing in the morning it was tipping it down with rain!
With a variety of beautiful spaces available both inside the building, and outdoors, Chiddingstone Castle is an ideal wedding venue throughout the year.
Just north of Royal Tunbridge Wells, and a short drive from M25, Chiddingstone Castle is easy to find, well connected, and yet blissfully tranquil.
The original construction at the site was a Tudor timber-frame house, which was replaced with the current Medieval-style castle, in the 1800s.
The grand and imposing Great Hall, reflecting the castle’s Tudor heritage, is used for all wedding breakfasts and also accommodates ceremonies during the Winter months.
In the Summer, ceremonies are conducted in the Grade II listed Victorian Orangery, situated in the gardens.
Outdoors, Chiddingstone Castle boasts 35 acres of gardens, offering space for guests to roam, and a variety of backgrounds for wedding photographs. An eclectic mixture of flowers and plants ensures there is beauty in the gardens all year round. Daffodils and cherry tree blossom provide a cheerful injection of colour in the Spring, while roses, peonies and lavender create a vibrant background throughout the Summer.
At night the network of eclectic marquees are beautifully lit, creating a romantic backdrop to the evening’s entertainment. Couples wishing to close their wedding day in style can opt for a private fireworks display over the castle.
